Hypothalamus Gland
The hypothalamus is a small but complex region of the brain that plays a critical role in regulating many physiological functions, including hunger, thirst, body temperature, and the release of hormones from the pituitary gland.
The hypothalamus is located just above the brainstem and below the thalamus, and it communicates with other regions of the brain, including the pituitary gland, through a network of nerve cells and blood vessels.
The hypothalamus produces and releases several hormones that regulate the release of hormones from the pituitary gland. These hormones include gonadotropin-releasing hormone, which stimulates the release of hormones involved in reproductive function, and corticotropin-releasing hormone, which stimulates the release of cortisol and other stress hormones.
In addition to regulating the release of hormones, the hypothalamus also plays a role in regulating hunger and thirst. It receives signals from the body indicating the need for food or water and sends out signals that stimulate hunger or thirst. It also plays a role in regulating body temperature, helping to maintain a stable internal temperature in response to changes in the external environment.
The hypothalamus is also involved in regulating sleep and circadian rhythms. It receives signals from the retina in response to light and darkness and helps to regulate the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.

5. Hypothalamic disorders:
Hypothalamic disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, including tumors, infections, or genetic conditions. Symptoms can include changes in appetite, weight gain or loss, changes in sleep patterns, and changes in body temperature.
Applications: 3-5 drops internally in water
Single Oils: Frankincense, Myrrh
Blends: Three Wise Men
6. Hypothalamic-pituitary axis disorders:
The hypothalamus is closely connected to the pituitary gland, and dysfunction of either gland can lead to hormonal imbalances.
Applications: 3-5 drops internally in water
Single Oils: Frankincense, Myrrh
Blends: Three Wise Men
7. Autonomic nervous system disorders:
The hypothalamus plays a key role in regulating the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, breathing, and digestion. Dysfunction of the hypothalamus can lead to disorders such as orthostatic hypotension, in which blood pressure drops suddenly when a person stands up.
Applications: Body Tonic, Thera-lotion, Sustained Inhalation
Single Oils: Lemongrass, Anise, Sage, Tarragon, Marjoram
Blends: No Sweat
8. Sleep disorders:
The hypothalamus plays a key role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle, and dysfunction of this region can lead to sleep disorders such as insomnia or hypersomnia.
