Adenitis, or lymphadenitis, is inflammation and swelling of lymph nodes (Lymph Nodes are small, bean-shaped structures that are part of the body’s immune system, filtering lymphatic fluid and trapping pathogens and waste), often triggered by infection, that can lead to pain, fever, poor endocrine function, endocrine depletion, and possibly pus-filled abscesses.
Lymph nodes are found throughout the body, but they are particularly concentrated in areas like the neck, armpits, and groin. Adenitis usually occurs when the lymph nodes become infected with bacteria, viruses, or fungi, or as a reaction to inflammation or injury nearby. The lymphatic system acts as a delivery agent for some hormones.
Types of Adenitis:
